Oranges! Also cut in half, you can avoid this if you wish, but these weren't that juicy so I knew it wouldn't interfere with the cream

Salad Style 1

Hi folks, hope you’re all doing Faaaab-you-lous 😉

Since me and my entire family love to eat salad, I thought it would be a great idea to share some of our salad combinations with you. Don’t worry they’re all easy to do, taste very nice and great for your body!

I will start with this very simple salad, you only need three ingredients, you can add in more if you wish.

Ingredients:

1) Cucumber

2) Olives

3) Cherry tomatoes

4) Salt for seasoning (optional)

5) Coriander for garnish (optional)

2014-01-11 20.53.54

Begin by cutting up some cucumber in small chunks

2014-01-11 20.54.22

Then you want to add to that a few tomatoes, I chose cherry tomatoes, but you can go with whichever you prefer.

2014-01-11 20.56.19

Cut the tomatoes in chunks and add your olives!

2014-01-11 20.57.00

It’s up to you whether you would like to cut the olives in half or not, but I prefer it!

2014-01-11 20.57.14

Give it a good toss with a pinch of salt to intensify the flavours =D

Garnish with coriander

Grilled Chicken Tikka ❣ (TJ style)

Hello my fellow followers and likers 😉

Today i will be sharing a chicken tikka recipe, this is so simple to make but one of my favourites. It smells and tastes so good, you just have to try it. I’m just going to let you all know now, the pictures don’t give this dish any justice!

What you need:

1) A bowl
2) Teaspoon
3) Mixing Spoon/Spatula
4) Knife
5) Chopping Board

Ingredients:

1) Chicken (duh)
2) Garlic
3) Onion (quarter approx)
4) Turmeric powder (quarter teaspoon)
5) Chilli Powder  (quarter teaspoon)
6) Ginger Powder  (quarter teaspoon)
7) Kashmiri Paste (1 teaspoon)
8) Tandoori masala powder
9) Lime (a small squeeze of lime juice)
10) Vinegar (a few drops to moisturise the tandoori powder
11) Pickle of you choice (I used Hot Mango by Pataks)
12) Olives (if you wish)
13) Pickle
14) splash of oil (of your choice – I used Sunflower)
15) Salt (very important)
16) Coriander (If you wish any other herb, I love the smell of coriander and thyme, both of which can be easily homegrown)

Recipe:

2014-01-11 13.19.37

1) Firstly begin by cutting the breast of the chicken into small chunks like I have done above, I sometimes put in small bony parts of chicken too, tastes great, like wings YUM!

2014-01-11 13.19.28

2) Secondly cut garlic into small pieces, you don’t need as much as I have cut above, you only need a small amount, less than a teaspoon.

Take the garlic and a pinch of salt and smear it all over your chicken. make sure the Chicken has been washed thoroughly, remember you’re working with raw meat.

2014-01-11 13.24.33

3) Once that is complete your chicken will feel silky from the salt, that’s when you know it has reached all areas (wahayy!!) After that add a quarter of an onion sliced or diced very thinly, I’ve cooked mine on slow heat until it has softened, but you don’t need to do this step, often I use uncooked onion and it cooks fine later on.

2014-01-11 13.26.01

4) Next is my favourite step! This is where your chicken gets all it’s vibrant colour. Add the chilli powder, turmeric powder and ginger powder. You could always use ‘five spice’, which is a blend of five essential spices, but sometimes I find that too strong, so I stuck with these three. You could always use fresh ginger or ginger paste too.

2014-01-11 13.27.25

5) Once you’ve stirred that in, it will look so tasty….BUT!!! don’t eat it just yet, even if it does look mouth watering 😉 Add one teaspoon of kashmiri paste, you do not need the tandoori powder if you’re using the kashmiri paste, but I like to, as I feel the powder adds more colour.

2014-01-11 13.30.10

6) Now add the tandoori powder, don’t worry if it looks dry at this stage, we will be adding liquids soon.

2014-01-11 13.31.10

7) Now take a lime of your choice, if you wish you can add lemon juice instead. Cut into small slices, you only need the juice of one or two slices, not the whole thing. Add a few drops of vinegar until the mixture is less dry.

2014-01-11 13.33.35

8) This step is optional but I find that it makes all the difference. Choose your favourite pickle, I chose a spicy one, but you don’t need to. Take one spoon of your pickle and add it to the chicken. Also in this step drizzle a tiny bit of oil, we won’t be applying any oil to our dish, but instead use a non stick dish.

9) Mix everything together and you’re done. I left my chicken to marinade overnight, but one hour is good enough, all the ingredients are strong enough to flavour the chicken straight away.

10) Grill on a low mark until it’s steamy and well cooked.

2014-01-11 13.34.15
The kashmiri paste and hot mango pickle were both by Pataks, they make the best pickles, I bought both of these from Sainsbury’s! The tandoori powder was by East End, I bought mine from a small Green Grocers.

2014-01-11 13.34.58

You can add any vegetables to your mix, to make it taste better and personalise it, for example I add Olives if I’m making it for my dad, Olives are very good for you!

2014-01-11 13.35.41

Garnish with coriander or any herbs of your choice

Serving suggestions:

Serve with rice or inside a pitta bread

2014-01-12 15.04.25

mmm. Enjoy!

I hope you all enjoyed this post,

Until next time, tara folks!

❤ The Fault In Our Stars – John Green | Review ❤

I read this book last year, and kept meaning to write a review on it. Well now that the movie has officially been announced, I thought it was about time.

The book is written about a difficult topic; teenagers with cancer. Meet Hazel and Augustus: Two teenagers with different types of terminal cancer. Both are funny, sarcastic, and extremely intelligent. So when they both meet at a support group, the sparks are bound to fly…

‘But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.’

But nothing is that easy, it never is. Both characters have difficulties they need to overcome, and this book truly shows how painful and heartbreaking the issues the two go through are. The reader, in a way, is taking a risk: Diving into a world where you know the characters are terminal, and yet still loving them, appreciating them and respecting them – Even though you know you might have to let them go. The darker part of the book is as ever, dealt with wonderfully. I cry easily, and I get hurt easyily, aswell as crying on the behalf of other people, so this was definitely an emotional rollercoaster ride.

It's a metaphor - A qoute from the book

John Green has a way with words, making them seem gorgeous and mellifluous. His writing is truly amazing. The way he writes is enchanting, deep, magical. He has taken a negative topic, and in a way, made it into a piece of entrancing, beautiful literature.

The teenagers in the book, however, are not relatable… John Green wrote there conversations, you know, the way he talks. Deep, and grown up and remarkably intelligent. They were too grown up. Most teenagers aren’t like that, even ones that ponder death more than others. Look at the beautiful Covergirl  Talia Joy, she was definitely younger than them, but still I think that Hazel and Augustus were just teenage versions of John Green in teenage bodies. The plot didn’t have many twists to be honest. John relied on his amazing vocabulary and his shocking ending to wow his readers (Similiar to Allegiant). There really wasn’t much that happened in the book, but it still made me cry, and I was hurting from the thought of all the pain these teenagers have to go through, at such a young age.

This book is definetly not your cliche teenagers book. It’s something special, and magical and has lessons that children and adults can learn from, alike.   The characters clung to me, and I loved and adored them. They were honestly just amazing people, that I wish I could meet.It is inspiring, and makes you really think, and it makes you laugh, it makes you sad… And it basically breaks your heart in the end. Don’t think that’s possible? Read the book; then get back to me. Even though I said above about the chracters were not really realistic, I guess it’s because they have gone through things that ‘normal’ teengers can’t even imagine. They have witnessed horrors, and been in severe pain. All this, all this has aged them. Yet, they are still beautiful, and the book is tragic, and at the same time light and happy. The entire book is a work of art.

Read this book right now guys, so when the movie comes out, you can proudly say you read the book first 😉

I hope you enjoyed this bizarrley mixed emotions feeling book review 🙂

Tia xoxo

SPOIILLLLLLLLLLLERRR DON’T READ BELOW THIS IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOK! 😮

_________________________________________________________________________

This was one of the qoutes that made me cry in the book:

“Augustus Waters was a self-aggrandizing bastard. But we forgive him. We forgive him not because he had a heart as figuratively good as his literal one sucked, or because he knew more about how to hold a cigarette than any nonsmoker in history, or because he got eighteen years when he should’ve gotten more.’
‘Seventeen,’ Gus corrected.
‘I’m assuming you’ve got some time, you interupting bastard.
‘I’m telling you,’ Isaac continued, ‘Augustus Waters talked so much that he’d interupt you at his own funeral. And he was pretentious: Sweet Jesus Christ, that kid never took a piss without pondering the abundant metaphorical resonances of human waste production. And he was vain: I do not believe I have ever met a more physically attractive person who was more acutely aware of his own physical attractiveness.
‘But I will say this: When the scientists of the future show up at my house with robot eyes and they tell me to try them on, I will tell the scientists to screw off, because I do not want to see a world without him.’

ARGGGHH ;-;

❤ Bathroom Renovation ❤

Alright guys, so we have had the same blue tiles, blue shower curtains and even blue walls and accessories for THEE longest time ever! So we thought it would be a great idea if we change everything completely. I actually wasn’t all too happy about changing the blue, I loves the blue theme, in fact I was just as annoyed when we were were moving houses. I guess your brain gets attached to things quickly, well atleast mine does. However, change is good and I am already beginning to settle in to my new home and feel comfortable in it. Although, I must say, it will never be the same or as cosy!

Although I was beginning to feel god about a little changing up here and there I was not at all thrilled with how it may turn out. My parents had decided on a neutral theme, which I guess is okay, it would be completely different to our vibrant blue, but I was hoping that it just wouldn’t look so dull.

One of the first things my parents bought, were these sample tiles from B&Q (I did not know you could do that). They decided to pick a tile border first and then work put the rest from there. They brought home one sample that had gold tiles with mirrors, it was so elegant and bedazzling, the other contained greys, blacks and silvers, they were both so exquisite and well made that we all fell in love with them instantly. We all decided that the black silver and grey one would fit in brilliantly with a neutral theme but it was way too hard to part with the gold one, so instead of saying goodbye we thought we could use it in the kitchen (our kitchen was also blue) and that is exactly what we did.

I picked all the accessories myself, I thought I should pick enamel and silver, which is nothing like our old oak one. I thought it looked modern and very classy, I just loved it and so did everyone else.

Even though we didn’t need to change our bath, toilet and sink, we still did, because we are awesome like that heh. I kinda missed the old ones, this set looks a little more elegant and our old one was much more curvy and cosy and cute looking. I was kinda grumpy about that change, but we are getting used to it.

My mum picked the floor tiles and my dad picked the roof style. I was really shocked when I saw the ceiling, I guess I didn’t think it would turn out that good!

2013-05-08 14.18.08

The ever so trendy tiles with the enamel towel holder

2013-05-05 17.51.02

Before the tiles got ‘puttied’ together, the builder let me take some pictures

2013-05-08 14.19.05

Ceiling undone and check out them ugly shower curtains wahayy

2013-05-08 14.18.58

Alright so now that we bought a bath tub with a shower attached, we no longer will use the other one, it will be off limits for stinky hands and reserved for granma to use!

2013-05-08 14.18.43

Okay so my eye caught this mosaic mirror, I found a similar one in Argos but it only had two mosaic rims around the side, I preferred the three circled mosaic rims, me and my mum found this at Homebase, we were thrilled, because we were running out of time and needed to bring home a mirror before the builders disappeared. At first we found a huge rectangular one, but felt it just didn’t it this bathroom.

2013-05-08 14.18.27

Alright even though we had already bought a mirror, me and my dad decided that the mirrored cabinets looked far better than those that are solid, this is the one we opted for, which isn’t too different from our previous one, but we preferred the white over oak, for the style we had decided to go for.

2013-05-08 14.18.16

Closer look at the tub 😉

2014-01-11 11.18.54

Okay I just realised that I forgot to take pictures of the floor and ceiling, so i just took a quick picture of the ceiling right now, and it’s just real bad lighting, but it’s basically grey and silver borders, chosen by my dad! and the floor tiles are just rough style concrete floor tiles in the colour light grey, picked by my mum!

I’m glad I took all these pictures, it did take a few days to complete, but overall I am delighted at the outcome. I hope you enjoyed the pictures and hopefully gave you some ideas on how to decorate or choose a theme for your bathroom.

You won’t believe this, but I just typed the entire blog post and it all deleted and I had to re write it and it doesn’t look as great as it first did, *well that sucks*

Anyhoo, let me know if you all liked this post, more home renovation blogposts coming up!

★ Grilled Tikka Fillet ★

Right guys, this was soo easy to make, it’s laughable HA HA HAAA (see?)

All you need to do is get a bowl and chuck a few ingredients together: salt, pepper, chilli powder, turmeric powder and tandoori paste/tikka massalla paste and chopped chillies if you wish.

Roll fish around… i used fillet but you can use what ever fish you like.

Put it in a dish with a brush of oil and grill away. The fish at the bottom of the pic just has salt and chives no oil… healthier option. natural fish oil cooked. The one at the top is the tikka style I explained above.

Happy eating folks!

Photo: just made grilled fish.. healthier option for my dad with the chives and chilli tikka style for the rest of us x
Mmm…

Love ya guys
